The Tri-Cities is nearly a desert (fewer than a dozen inches of precipitation each year), but is located at the confluence of three rivers – the Columbia, Snake and Yakima. Thanks to dams that provide the region with the hydropower and irrigation water that make this life possible, the Columbia and Snake are, in some places, more like huge, long, inland lakes than rivers.

Most of the recreation in or near downtown Kennewick is tied in some form or fashion to the water. There are vast opportunities for water sports such as swimming, boating, fishing, water skiing, windsurfing, kiteboarding and more.

There’s plenty to do here for those who’d rather not get into the water: Casinos, a bowling alley, a comedy club, or back outside to enjoy walking or bike paths — there’s always something to do in Historic Downtown Kennewick!
